Meet Tani, an unbelievably talented 18-year-old up-and-coming designer. Tani submitted her edgy swimwear designs to HydroChic’s Girls’ Design Contest and simply blew us away with her sporty, elegant and fun looks. We sat down with Tani to find out more about the process that went into her designs and what we can look forward to seeing from her in the future.
“From the time I was very young, I’ve had a tremendous passion for art,” she said. She explored a number of creative outlets from painting to sewing, and teachers soon recognized her passion and talent and stepped forward to guide her artistic development. One elementary school teacher in particular took Tani under her wing, encouraging her to sign up for art classes outside of school hours, which Tani excelled in until eventually enrolling in a pre-college summer program in design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Tani soon realized that the perfect application of her skills and passion would be designing modest clothing. “As I continued maturing into a young observant Jewish woman, I realized how I could use my passion for a true and meaningful purpose,” she said. “I came to recognize how much I treasure our very special, modest mode of dress, but how difficult it is to stick to it in today’s day and age.” Her dream now is to design a modest, affordable, completely stylish clothing line.
Tani first heard about HydroChic when she asked a neighbor at the pool about her HydroChic suit and Tani herself has been wearing HydroChic suits ever since. Right away the modest cuts of HydroChic suits drew Tani to love the brand – she never looked back to the slow-drying, unflattering, cotton clothes she used to wear to the pool! Growing up in an orthodox Jewish home, it was always important to Tani to dress modestly, including at the beach and pool, but she simply never found a suit that made her comfortable until HydroChic. In her own words, “I have been taught about the beauty and truth behind dressing modestly and it just makes so much sense to me. I feel my most beautiful when I am dressed modestly, and I know that if someone is conversing with me, it is for who I am as a person on the inside – for the part that truly matters – rather than for what I am physically, only externally and that which will fade with time.”
At the same time, Tani values the sun protection afforded by HydroChic suits. “With all of the new discoveries being made about the inherent dangers… from the sun, I understand that it is a matter of personal health and safety to be properly covered and protected,” she said.
Tani has been a HydroChic fan, along with her sister and mother, for several years and we are so glad she entered the Girls’ Design Contest this year! Her talent and passion for art and design as well as her strong connection to modest dress really shined through her contest submissions. We wish her the best of luck in designing her dream line!
