Pantone has announced the color of the year – a luscious shade of purple called Radiant Orchid. Be prepared to see its influence everywhere in 2014, from Hydrochic to home décor!
Pantone color 18-3224, “Radiant Orchid,” is 2014’s Color of the Year.
Every year, Pantone decides to feature a certain color. This year’s choice, Radiant Orchid, is a shade of purple that is deep and vibrant with hints of pink; reflecting energy and creativity. Although many women shy away from wearing purples and pinks, this new shade is a great way to incorporate a stunning, sophisticated color into every woman’s wardrobe.
Incorporating into Exercise and Swimwear
HydroChic is thrilled to add this color to our palette. Radiant Orchid compliments the Pink Orchid and Sorbet colors that we have successfully introduced into our line in the past year. This summer, you will find HydroChic tops and bottoms that include Radiant Orchid in their palette of colors.
Now that you know the color of the year, you may be curious to find out who Pantone actually is and why they get to choose a ‘color of the year.’
Who is Pantone?
Pantone is an organization that sets color standards across industries – from fashion to home décor. Pantone describes their service as providing “the standard language for accurate color communication.”
Pantone produces ink and pigment in thousands of colors. They have an innovative color matching system consisting of little cards, each in a certain shade of a color. With 2,100 shades of fabric to choose from, the matching system ensures that every time a fabric is printed, the color is exactly the same. That means you can be sure that your curtains will match your paint and your writing paper and your plastic chairs!
To complement the selection of pinks and purples in our HydroChic line, we are also about to unveil a fabulous tiger print in a potpourri of colors that includes luscious shades of pinks and purples.
So, wake up your girly side and add splashes of pink and purple to your wardrobe! If you are bold, you can choose our Pink Orchid tops. For those who like to add a little sweetness to their look, go for black with Radiant Orchid accents. Pink also works well as an accessory color – think pink rimmed sunglasses or pink flip flops!
Uncover your flirty side and brighten up your winter when you think pink… and purple!
